Installing windows in London offices

Installing windows in London offices

Double glazing is a product that we often associate with our homes, but every business needs to consider the security and energy efficiency of its office buildings too. From skyscrapers to small business offices, windows have a huge impact on that critical first impression.

For businesses, getting the right glazing is about balancing functionality and cost, which is why it’s important to go to a company that can offer a range of products. Something that works well in one building may be inadequate for another, and for some businesses, windows can actually provide new potential for profit.

Placement and Style

The windows in a skyscraper are very different to the windows in a hotel or café, and knowing your options is the first step in getting the right solution.

Aluminium bifolds are great for businesses that need to open up one side of the building for easy access. Pools, shopfronts and pavement eateries are a good example.

In a traditional office, you will probably need tilt and turn windows. At higher levels, we can restrict the opening of these windows to comply with health and safety requirements.

We can also manufacture authentic box sash windows made from modern, durable uPVC. Take a look at our Residence 9 range for more information.

Materials and Construction

Hamilton Windows is proud to be able to offer windows in uPVC and aluminium, offering you the greatest possible choice without compromising on energy efficiency.

So which one should you choose?

In terms of security and longevity, aluminium and uPVC frames are very similar. uPVC used to have a reputation for warping and weakening, but modern frames don’t suffer the same degradation that we used to see with early uPVC.

Both types of frames come with the same multi-point locks, too.

Appearance is a key factor in most business’ decision. Aluminium frames are slim, so you tend to get a much wider expanse of glass, which can help to make the most of a beautiful panoramic view. These frames can also look more modern than uPVC, which looks thicker and heavier. However, both materials are available in a range of colours, so it’s sometimes best to compare them in a showroom to see which one you prefer. The cost savings of uPVC are often worth the sacrifice, particularly for small businesses that don’t have a huge amount of money to spend.

Remember: if your office is in a listed building or a conservation area, you may be limited to a particular style or material. That doesn’t mean you can’t order new windows, but you will probably need to install something that’s a close match to the original window style.
