Bespoke Stained Glass Window Proves a Hit with St. George’s Parishioners

Bespoke Stained Glass Window Proves a Hit with St. George’s Parishioners
We fit all types of windows and doors at Hamilton, but replacing the windows for St. George’s church in Surbiton was one of our more unusual projects.

The original stained glass windows in the church were ageing and far removed from the spectacular pieces that shed beautiful coloured light across the pews years ago. They needed to be renewed, but of course it was imperative the replacements were sympathetic to the originals, and to the church. The parishioners would always be heavy critics of any work carried out on a much admired focal point.

We replicated the windows precisely, crafting intricate lead work and hand making individual pieces of coloured glass.

One of the glass units was so large and heavy that a crane had to be utilised for installation. Despite this, the project took just three days to complete and the results proved very popular amongst the vicar and his expectant parishioners.
